Church to Offer 'Ashes to Go' on Orange Line
St. George's Episcopal Church to assist busy commuters at Virginia Square Metro; see where else to get ashes Wednesday in Vienna.
Busy Catholics in Vienna and beyond who are traveling the Orange Line on Wednesday can get their ashes to go.
A group from St. George’s Episcopal Church in Arlington will be distributing ashes in the Virginia Square Metro Plaza for Ash Wednesday, according to a news release from the church.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.
If you travel from Vienna on the Orange Line, or work near the station, representatives of the church will offer the ashes to anyone who wants them from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
One does not have to be a particular religion to receive the ashes.
The church had a similar program in 2012. (See: Church Offers 'Ashes to Go' at Virginia Square Metro from 2012.)

What s great service for patrons who can not attend church services on Ash Wednesday for what ever reason....family, work , no transportation etc....
It is sad that our lives in this metropolitan area has to come to this because of our busy lives to survive here.
God bless the dedicated priests and volunteers to take time for all of us. I live across from Vienna metro and i'm about to walk across to my Ashes..It's pouring rain so I Hope everyone is keeping dry.... :)
