Four Candidates File For Council, Mayor Races
No new faces for Mayor, three open Town Council seats
Four candidates filed papers to run for Vienna Mayor and three open Town Council seats this May — all of them incumbents with no challengers.
Mayor Jane Seeman and town council members Laurie Cole, Edythe Kelleher and Mike Polychrones will all run for re-election May 1. No other candidates had filed papers by Tuesday's deadline, according to the Fairfax County Office of Elections.
Three council seats are open each May. The Mayor, the seventh council member, is elected in even-numbered years.
Cole and Kelleher have served on the council since 2002. Polychrones served has served eight non-consecutive terms since 1996. Seeman has spent more than a decade as Mayor; before her 2000 victory, she served two full terms and a partial term on town council.
Vienna Patch chatted briefly with each of the candidates about their background, goals and vision for the town.

No challengers. WOW! I just can't imagine that. Do they get away with not having to buy and plant yard signs and spend thousands of dollars on brochures, lit drops, robocalls? Do they go around the town and knock on doors letting citizens know where they stand on the issues? Are there any issues in Vienna? I hope to see them all at the next VML Conference.
