Gallery: Honoring Gibson For 16 Years of Service
Supporters of retiring school board member gather at South Lakes High School.
Supporters of Fairfax County School Board member Stu Gibson gathered at South Lakes High School on Friday to say farewell and thanks.
Gibson has represented the Hunter Mill District since 1995. He did not seek re-election this fall. Newcomer Pat Hynes, a teacher and former lawyer, was elected to the seat and will take over in January.
Faces in the crowd included Gibson, Hynes, Del. Ken Plum, South Lakes Principal Bruce Butler, FCPS Assistant Superintendent Fabio Zuluaga, and many Reston-area parents.

Thank you to everyone who planned this lovely event. And thank you to the many parents and community members -- and current and future school board members -- who came to express their thanks and appreciation. I am deeply moved and humbled.
