Nielsen's, Caffé Amouri, The Soundry Win "Best Of Vienna" Honors

The W&OD Trail, Nielsen's Frozen Custard, Caffé Amouri, Meadow Lane Park and The Soundry sponsored by Vienna Patch and So Very Vienna.

Hundreds of people voted in the "Best of Vienna" survey in the past two weeks, giving their top picks for businesses and places in five categories: Best place to be outside in Vienna; best place to get frozen yogurt or ice cream; best place to get coffee; best kid-friendly place to play; and best locally-owned business (a write-in category).

But that's not to say there weren't several close races.

The most competitive category was "best locally-owned business." Voters wrote in more than three dozen different choices, with The Soundry edging Maple Avenue Restaurant by just 19 votes.

The No.5 pick in that category -- Maple Avenue Market -- beat the next top-vote getter, The Vienna Inn, by just four votes.

The coffee category was also a close race: Caffé Amouri got just 32 more votes than The Soundry.

"I'm ecstatic," "I think it’s great. We just want to get better and better."

Winners will be presented with an official certificate commemorating the 2011 honors.
