Police are investigating two apparently related cases of grand larceny at 7-Eleven stores in Vienna.

At 4 p.m. Feb. 10, a citizen reported an assault had taken place at the 7-11 at
427 Maple Avenue E. The citizen told police they observed a male and a 7-11 store employee fighting over a bag on Pine Street.

When police responded, they found two 7-11 employees, one male and one female, had pursued a white male subject after he stole a bag containing several cartons of cigarettes. During the confrontation and subsequent struggle the male employee was struck and injured.

Fairfax County EMS responded and treated the victim for minor injuries.

Police then learned that a similar event had taken place on Feb. 7 at the 7-11 store in the 500 block of Maple Avenue West, but was never reported to police.

Police are investigating both cases. 

Highlights from the Vienna Police Department log, Feb. 10 to Feb 16:

• A citizen reported between Jan. 1 and Feb. 16, someone had painted graffiti on the inside of a sound barrier at Yeonas Park, 1309 Ross Drive SW. The barrier belongs to VDOT.
• A citizen reported someone forged some checks between 9 a.m. Feb. 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 3 and uttered them at Navy Federal Credit Union, 820 Follin Lane SE. Police are still investigating the case.
• A woman reported on Feb. 7 she lost her ring at Patrick Henry Library, 101 Maple Avenue SE.
• While conducting a traffic stop at 12:08 p.m. Feb. 10 near Park and Church Streets NE, police detected the presence of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. Further investigation yielded the suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was released to his father at the scene. A petition will be obtained for the offense.
• At 2:41 a.m. Feb. 11, Police found a car parked in a lot of Glyndon Park, 300 Glyndon Street NE, in the early morning hours. While interacting with the occupant, police detected the presence of suspected marijuana. Further investigation yielded the marijuana. Shayan Mirshamsi, 24, of Vienna was issued a summons for the offense. He was released after signing it.
• A woman reported at 5:38 p.m. Feb. 11 three stickers had been stolen from her vehicle in the 100 block of Moore Avenue SW. The stickers were decorative in nature and not state issued.
• A resident reported he smelled what he believed to be marijuana coming from inside an apartment around 5:02 p.m. Feb. 13 in the 200 block of Park Terrace Court SE. Officers could not find the source of the odor.
• A construction worker reported he has been working on a home in the area for several weeks in the 300 Block of Glyndon Street SE. During this time period the neighbors have been complaining about the parking of trucks in the neighborhood, he said. At 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14, the worker said he parked his vehicle in front of an address in a legal manner and the homeowner engaged him in a verbal argument. A short time later the homeowner applied a sticker to the truck’s window telling the worker not to park in that particular location. The sticker was very difficult to remove and left adhesive deposits on the vehicle. Police will investigate the case.
• A citizen reported finding a stray dog at 10:51 a.m. Feb 14 in the 200 block of Cherry Street SW. Police determined where the dog resided and placed it back in its yard. Upon knocking on the front door to notify the dog’s owner, the front door opened. An interior search of the home yielded nothing unusual and the door was secured upon exit.
• A man reported he sold an iPhone to someone, but that person wanted to return the phone and did so. The man's mother refunded the purchase price of the phone but did not receive the phone back, they reported at 4 p.m. Feb. 15. Police contacted the individual that received the money and the phone is being shipped to the seller and will be returned.
• A man reported while his car was parked near the W&OD Trail between 4:40 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Feb. 15, someone broke out a window.
• At 1:18 a.m. Feb 16, an employee of the 7-11 store, 537 Maple Avenue W flagged down a police officer as he passed by the store. Police found a subject had taken a hotdog and soda from the store and left without paying for the items. The individual was eating the hotdog and drinking the soda just outside the store when police were flagged down. After identifying and interviewing the individual the store employee elected not to prosecute the subject for the thefts. The individual was subsequently banned from the store.

ARRESTS

Police saw a man drinking beer at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 12 behind the Cedar Lane Shopping Center. Javier Bonilla, 26, of Vienna, was charged with drinking alcohol in public. He was released after signing a summons.

The Plastic Surgery Center, 500 Maple Ave W, reported a man trying to use a stolen credit card at a doctor’s office. Police investigation revealed the man was attempting to pay for some cosmetic enhancements his girlfriend received in January. The card number was initially given over the telephone but the issuing card agency informed the office that it was a stolen card. At 12:29 p.m. Feb. 14, the man and his girlfriend responded to the office for a follow up visit, which is when officers were notified. Police are still investigating the case. While investigating the man, police learned he was wanted based on active warrants from Montgomery County, Md. The warrants charged Kevin Washington, 46, of Washington, D.C. with violation of probation for a misdemeanor theft case and violation of probation from a bad check case. Washington was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with fugitive from justice.

Police saw an apparently intoxicated man at 10 p.m. Feb. 15 trying to walk   behind the Cedar Lane Shopping Center. After a brief investigation, police arrested Domingo Ramirez- Membreno, 56, of Vienna was arrested for drunk in public and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
