Police Log: Woman Arrested For Prescription Fraud

Police arresting a woman for attempting to fill fraudulent prescriptions at the Vienna Drug Center discovered she was wanted on another charge in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Jessica Calhau Barros, 24, of Gaithersburg, Maryland was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where officers obtained a warrant for prescription fraud. Barros was held on a $5,000 bond.

An employee of , 150 Maple Ave W, reported at 10:20 p.m. April 28 someone was attempting to pass a fraudulent prescription. Police discovered the suspect was also wanted by Montgomery County on a warrant for probation violation. A detainer was placed upon Barros for the warrant.

After Barros was taken to the Adult Detention Center, police found an additional forged prescription. Barros was also charged with that offense.

Other Highlights from the Vienna Police Log, April 27 to May 3:

• A man reported between December 1 and 31, 2011, someone opened a credit account using his identity. Several purchases were then made using the information. This case is still being investigated.
• A woman reported that an item had been delivered to her home by UPS at 4:39 p.m. Feb. 15, but after she left her home for a short time, returned to find it was gone.
• An employee of reported that between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., her purse was stolen from inside the restaurant.
• Police observed a car being driven erratically at 1:51 a.m. April 28 in the 100 Block of East Street NE. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests, Jose Echeverria, 25, of Herndon was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. There, his breath was analyzed and he was formally charged with the offense.
• A man reported while working in his garden at 12:29 p.m. April 28 on Pleasant Street SW, an unknown dog approached him and bit him on his mouth. The dog’s caretaker attempted to leave the area with the animal but was called back by the victim. Fairfax County EMS responded to treat the victim for his lacerations. During the investigation the same dog lunged at an officer and attempted to bite his arm. The handler pulled the dog back. The animal was quarantined and the animal control officer will follow up on this case.
• A woman who rents a room in a home on Frederick Street SW reported she returned at 3:29 p.m. April 28 to find the locks changed. Police contacted the homeowner and the tenant was allowed access to retrieve her personal belongings. She was then asked to leave the property.
• A man reported while attending a party at 10:50 p.m. April 28 on Courthouse Road SW, he was having a conversation about public schools when the other party struck him multiple times in the head. The victim then left the party and notified police about an hour later. The victim was not interested in prosecuting the assailant after he was identified by police.
• Police responded to assist Fairfax County EMS at 3:41 p.m. April 29 for a report of a woman who had ingested an excessive amount of medications on Olympian Circle SW. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She is expected to fully recover.
• Police found two unlicensed solicitors at 4:03 p.m. April 30 who were selling meat by going door to door on Knoll Street NW. Curtis George Tumpkins, 51, of Clayton, Delaware and Michael Griffin, 62, of Glen Burnie, Maryland were both issued summonses for the violation. They were both released after signing the summonses.
• A business owner on Glyndon Street SE reported at 5:15 p.m. April 30 her storefront window was cracked.
• A man reported he hired contractors to paint his house number along the curbline. When he awoke at 9:56 a.m. May 1, he discovered someone had painted red lines through his new house numbers.
• A resident reported a contractor using a gas-operated compressor at 11:32 p.m. May 1 on Maple Avenue. Police issued him a summons for violation of the Town of Vienna Noise Ordinance. Ronny Arana, 41, of Lorton, was issued a summons and released after signing it.
• An employee of the Hope Center, 140 Park Street SE, reported that while treating a dog at 10 p.m. May 1, four employees were bitten by the animal.
• The dog has been quarantined and the department's animal control officer will follow up on this case.
• Officers responded along with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel for a reported explosion and house fire at 10:02 a.m. May 1 on Gibson Drive SW. Arriving officers checked the home but found nobody to be inside. The cause of the attic fire remains under investigation by the Fairfax County Fire Marshal’s Office.
• A citizen reported finding an abandoned bicycle at 10:06 a.m. May 2 oN Frederick Street SW. The bicycle was placed into storage pending retrieval by its owner.
• A citizen reported observing a suspicious delivery van at 10:30 a.m. May 2 near her home on Owaissa Road SE. She reported the van was observed several times during a run and she became suspicious. The vehicle is only described as a white mini-van. The driver was described as a Hispanic male, 25 years of age, with dark hair.
• A citizen reported that her daughter was at her house at 2:56 p.m. May 2 on Thelma Circle and “acting up”. The daughter had previously been evicted from the home but the mother recently allowed her to move back in for 3 weeks. The magistrate’s office was contacted and they advised the mother that she would now have to start the eviction process over again to have the daughter removed. The daughter voluntarily exited the home for the time being and went to a nearby doctor’s office.
• An elderly resident reported that at 4:08 p.m. May 2, a stranger had driven by her Aponi Road home and solicited work. The worker told the woman he needed to do some work to her home before an alleged warranty expired. The woman left the area in her vehicle and called police a short time later after the same individual came to her door.
• A concerned citizen reported at 7:40 p.m. May 2 he had not seen his elderly neighbor for quite some time. A relative of the neighbor was contacted and allowed officers to have access to the home on Carter Court. An interior search of the home yielded nothing unusual but the elderly neighbor was not home.
• Police encountered two dogs running at large at 8:02 p.m. May 2 on Carter Court SW. The dogs were detained and returned to their owner a short distance away.
• While conducting a traffic stop at 11:15 p.m. May 2 on Park Street SE, police detected signs of possible impairment. Afterr attempting to complete several field sobriety tests Justin Stone, 23, of Culpeper, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for analysis of his breath and then to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
• Police responded at 12:24 p.m. May 3 for a complaint regarding a woman yelling outside a home on Thelma Circle. They found a woman that reported she needed help in transporting her daughter to an area medical facility for some help. Police transported the woman to the location. The woman’s parents also responded to that same location.
