Police: Woman Sexually Assaulted in Merrifield
Second reported sexual assault in Merrifield since May
Fairfax County Police are looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman Sunday night in Merrifield.
Officer Bud Walker, a police spokesperson, said the woman was walking along the 7600 block of Lee Highway when a knife-yielding man forced her into some nearby brush around 11 p.m. Walker would not say where the woman was going or if she was hospitalized.
The alleged suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s with short black hair who was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.
This is the second reported sexual assault since May reported in Merrifield.
On May 11, a 50-year-old woman was attacked by two men around 1 a.m. in the 2400 block of Gallows Road near the W&OD Trail. The woman was hospitalized after the attack.
Walker did not comment on the earlier attack.

1st you don't know what exactly happened to this innocent woman. 2nd I assume your referring to Rep. Akin of Missouri who made comments that were flawed and ingorant trying to support his opposition to abortion for any reason. For you to associate those views as representative of all republicans is equally flawed and ignorant, in light of the fax that the entire state and national republican leadership have voiced there opposition to those comments and asked him to withdraw from his campaign in Missouri

Wow condeming merrifield ? Luther jackson is a very good school not sending your son there because of an incident like this is ludicrous. And show a very close-minded attitude. Plenty of people grow up in ghettos and turn out to be perfectly respectable citizens. And Vienna is certainly not without any criminal activity. This is exactly the sort of snobbery that makes Vienna look bad. Oakton sounds like the place for you.

Luther Jackson's ranking is inflated because it is the designated Gifted Center middle school within Cluster 2. Due to the GC status, the top students from the Madison and Marshal pyramids are siphoned off. Designating Luther Jackson as the GC was done precisely for this reason...to hide a potentially underperforming school. The logical choice would have been to designate Thoreau MS as the GC, since it is most centrally located within Cluster 2.

Since when has (or who has said) Merrifield been called/considered a ghetto??? Whoever.. you really need broaden ur horizons. Median family household income $92,000, 7.4% below poverty line, 90% high school graduate - 57% BA or higher, unemployment rate >5%. Some ghetto.. must be a part of Merrifield I've not seen.
