Readers’ Choice: Best Bakery in Vienna

Cupcakes, cakes and cookies: Where do you get them?

Update: You nominated the best bakeries in Vienna, and now, three have moved on to the voting round of Patch's Readers' Choice 2012.

Here's your chance to put your money (er — vote) where your mouth is. Cast a vote to help crown a winner.

Voting opens July 23 and continues through 11:59 p.m. Aug. 17. Only one vote per user — tell your friends and family to log on to pick their favorite, too!

Original: Where do you pick up gourmet holiday treats, birthday cakes and more? Do you have one go-to spot where the food is always fresh, and it all looks so good that you buy more than you intended?

We're looking for the best place to get baked goods in Vienna.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all businesses to our poll and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.

Sweet City Desserts! Flavors reign! Kalamansi pie is the perfect combination of tart and sweet. Red Velvet Mousse Cake is a silky dream. We almost didn't want to cut our Sushi Cake; it was so pretty. The best part was that it tasted even better than it looked.

Definitely Sweet City Desserts, where you can sample and savor such delectable delights such as Vienna crunch cake, red velvet mousse cake, kalamansi pie (key lime pie), and a wide variety of cupcakes incl. ube (taro), samoa, grasshopper, cookies & cream, almond, mint chocolate, etc. Along with these delicious desserts, Sweet City Desserts offers a congenial and convivial ambience for conversation, coffee and music! This is THE PLACE for cupcakes, cakes and cookies in Vienna. Sweet City Desserts rocks!!!

I ordered the Purple Yam (Ube) cake for a birthday cake at Sweet City Desserts. It was rich, creamy and deliciously ube. I will try the Ube Chocolate cupcake next time. My fourth visit. Excellent service. It was unhurried and personal.

A friend brought their 2 foot square ube cake in royal purple to our anniversary party last in June. All who had a slice said they were in cake heaven. The owner of the Chinese restaurant where we had our event swooned and wanted the name of the bakery and would recommend to her guests. Mabuhay to Sweet City! - Eric

Sweet City Desserts it is for me! I love the assortment of their pastries, esp. their cake/pie--key lime pie (aka kalamansi pie) and cupcake--purple yam. My 8 year old daughter loves their cookies esp. their chocolate chip. This mother-daughter team couldn't ask for anything more from Sweet City!

Sweet City Desserts is the best place to have sweets. The Kalamansi Pie is unbelievably delicious. Having coffee and desserts with my barber and exchanging news, views, and reviews, the place is convenient for us residents of McLean which is a neighbor city. But it would still be worth the trip to go and have sweet desserts even for those who live farther. It is always full and completely "desserted". If you don't have it, I am afraid you just don't have it!

I have not tried Sweet City (although I will after reading all these positive reviews!) but I have always found Cenan's cakes to be excellent (black current and white chocolate, yum!) -- they even impressed my husband's very snooty cousin. Also, their croissants are the best I have had since the last time I was in Paris.

After reading everyone's comments I tried Sweet City Desserts. I found them to be overpriced and unimpressive. I paid $30 for six little desserts, and my kids only liked two of them enough to finish them. The others they took one taste of and did not want any more. The staff there was really nice and the cakes they had on display were gorgeous, but I doubt I will go there again.

Seems like all the comments are going to Sweet City Desserts but the score says Cenan's getting the votes. What is this Florida? I have just finished going through the rounds of the last three finalists, and I must say that this is going to be a wonderful run for all! I am voting not only for the taste and the quality of the desserts but also the location, the parking, the inside atmosphere of the place, and most importantly, the customer service.

From what I have learned, it seems Cenan's is the Patriarch of bakeries and desserts in Vienna, and it does have its roots, culture and loyalty, and some of the best bread I have ever tasted. But the place is not so easy as far as sitting and relaxing and reading your book while enjoying their dessert and drinks. And I think this is where the Patch has made some slight errors in the category of their contest: the three finalists are not really that similar. Therefore it is not really fair to one or the other as to how one cast one's vote.

Silva's Patisserie is caught in-between these other two. All of them offers some of the best pastries in Vienna, and maybe even beyond. But between the three of them, it is quite disheartening to have to vote which one is better.

Sweet City Desserts remind of my younger days in Noe Valley, San Francisco. It is the kind of place I hanged out quite a lot on weekends, and a good pastry with great coffee will readily do it for me.

All of them are gems!

Totally enjoy popping into Cenan's for a baguette when heading home, and picking up a tasty cinnamon bun for breakfast.

Marzipan lovers take note - Silva's is the best in the whole area. If you have never tried marzipan that isn't months old and shipped from overseas, you haven't really tried marzipan. It is beautiful too!
