Two Injured In Morning Accident at Vienna Presbyterian Church
No charges filed in five-car crash
An elderly couple was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries on Sunday after a vehicle accidentally accelerated into a line of parked cars outside the Vienna Presbyterian Church.
Around 11 a.m., after church services, an 88-year-old man began to back his car out of a space in the church's parking lot. For "unknown reasons," the man told Vienna Police, his car began to accelerate and struck a number of vehicles.
After hitting a minivan, the car careened into a line of three parked vehicles, pinning an elderly woman -- who was attempting to enter the driver's seat of the car in the middle -- between the cars. Her husband -- who was attempting to enter the passenger's side of the vehicle -- was also hit.
Vienna Parks and Recreation employees moved the cars to free the woman. The woman and her husband were both taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Nobody attending the nearby Viva!Vienna! festival was injured.
No charges will be filed against the driver, Police said.
