Virginia politician and McLean resident Barbara Comstock addressed delegates at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday afternoon, but acknowledged, in a short interview with Patch in Tampa, that most of them probably weren't paying much attention.

"Having been at conventions for 20 years, I know when you're speaking like that, there's a lot of speeches, a lot of people aren't paying attention and you just go through the process and kind of speak to the audience at home and your mom," she joked.

In this video, Comstock also talks about her experience as deputy permanent co-chairman at the 2012 Republican National Convention and how she thinks the future of America has old Virginia roots.

My husband and I are both employed work hard and earn approximately 250k per year. I couldn't agree more with Barbara Comstock in that the cost of living in Northern VA is high. We have one young son who attends public school and plays on a soccer team. We own a modest home, pay a mortgage, pay lots of taxes via our paychecks and take 1 vacation a year. We do not live an elaborate or "rich" lifestyle. We along with other so called rich Northern Virginians pay taxes to support not only the public schools but the less fortunate who are either unemployed or unable to work. We consider ourselves part of the middle class and not in the upper income class. I am appreciative and respectful of other points of view on this topic.
