FABB hosts meet and greet for cross country tour of leg-powered bicycle cars

More than 30 velomobiles , attracting walkers, bikers and residents who wondered what exactly the "spacecraft"-like vehicles could be.

The velomobiles – a new kind of leg-powered bicycle cars – were finishing up a cross country tour to promote bicycle commuting. The riders, led by former German official Josef Janning,started in Oregon last month, covering about 120 miles a day.

Low to the ground and sleek, the bicycle car is powered by pedals and designed for traveling long distances because they are the “most efficient method of bicycling," Janning says.
