Vienna Chef Tim Ma: DC's 'Hottest Chef'
Co-owner of Maple Ave Restaurant now competes in Eater's East Coast competition.
The "hottest chef" in the Washington, DC region, according to its restaurant-goers, is Vienna's own Tim Ma.
Ma came out on top of several rounds of voting late last week in Eater DC's search for the most attractive chef in the region.
In the final vote, Ma beat out chef Bryan Voltaggio — of Volt and Range, among others — in a 54.9 to 45.1 percent vote.
Ma, an engineer-turned-chef, opened Maple Ave Restaurant with fiancée and co-owner Joey Hernandez three and a half years ago.
But until now, they haven't earned anything quite like an honor based on Ma's looks.
Hernandez said Ma was nominated when Eater DC put out a call for the competition last week. He made it through several rounds of competition before arriving at the finals.
Now, he'll face chefs from New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Maine for Eater's Northeast Division Title.
