Two of the top five most dangerous Metro stations in Virgnia are located in the Vienna area, according to a new report from the transit authority.
Metro Police logged 25 crimes at the Vienna Metro station, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said, ranging from robbery and larceny to resisiting arrest and fare evasion.
One arrest was made from those crimes.
At the Dunn Loring Station, often used by residents and commuters of Southwest Vienna, 14 crimes were committed.
The most dangerous Metro station in Virginia in 2011 was Franconia-Springfield, with 32 crimes reported. Still, those are relatively low numbers. Deanwood and Anacostia, dubbed the two most dangerous stations system wide, had 67 and 64 crimes, respectively.
When ranking every station by the number of reported crimes, Franconia-Springfield places 18th; Vienna, 27th.
Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said "it takes a lot less" to rank among the most dangerous Metro stations these days because overall crime is down 16 percent systemwide.
The 10 stations with the most reported crimes last year are all in Washington and Maryland.
Five of the 86 stations operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority had no reported crimes in 2011: Arlington Cemetery, Clarendon, Eisenhower Avenue, Farragut West, Virginia Square.
