Vienna Police Log: Two Women Approached by Suspicious Vehicles

The Vienna Police Department responded to two separate calls for suspicious vehicles following residents last week, one of which involved a man calling a woman to his car. 

A woman reported at 3:37 p.m. Feb. 15 she was walking on Glyndon Street near Locust Street SE when she was approached by a man in a burgundy four-door vehicle, who summoned her to talk to him.

She declined his request and walked away.

She told Police she observed the same vehicle in the area on two other occasions, on the same day, but the driver did not attempt to interact with her during those times. The vehicle left the area before officers arrived on scene.

A woman reported at 9:49 p.m. Feb. 16 she was walking on Marshall Road SW when she noticed a red truck parked in front of a residence. She said the driver of the truck appeared to be watching her.

The woman returned to her vehicle and as she drove off the driver of the truck began to follow her, she told police. The woman returned home where the truck pulled in front of her house, at which time she called the police department. As she was calling the police the vehicle left the area.

A woman was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to enter the Vienna Woods Swim Club after dark and resisting her subsequent arrest.

While responding to assist another officer at 11:07 p.m. Feb. 19 on an unrelated incident, an officer saw a woman entering the park at Vienna Woods Swim Club after dark.

When the officer approached the individual, she ignored his commands to stop. When he did stop the woman, he determined she was intoxicated.

Police arrested  Ana Delia Amaya-Trejo, 48, of Vienna, for drunk in public. While attempting to place Ms. Amaya-Trejo in handcuffs she began to actively resist. Amaya-Trejo was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with Drunk in Public and Resisting Arrest. She was to be held until she was sober.

Highlights from the Vienna Police Department Log, Feb. 14 through Feb. 21:

• A homeowner was checking on a property on Cottage Street when he discovered someone had taken his trash cans and recycle bin. The larceny is suspected to have occurred between 12:30 p.m. Jan. 26 and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 2. 
• A cat owner reported at noon Feb. 13 he had been bit by his cat while it wa receiving treatment at  140 Park Street, SE. The town's Animal Control Officer transported the cat to the Virginia Health Department for further tests. The Health Department will follow up on this case.
• A caller complained a dog was being neglected on Ware Street. The town's animal control officer met with the dog's owner and "determined the dog was thin due to its advanced age," but was receiving the proper care and there were no violations of law.
• An employee at the Village Green reported someone had vandalized a park bench with spray paint between 3:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and 2:06 p.m. Feb. 20. 
• A man reported Feb. 14 he left his coat in the restroom at CVS, 337 Maple Avenue E. When he returned later that night to get it, the coat was gone. Police are investigating the case. 
• An employee in the 300 block of Maple Avenue E reported between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 15, someone entered her "interior office area" and took her wallet from her purse. Police are investigating the case. 
• At 10:45 a.m. Feb. 15, a 7-11 employee reported a man went into the store at 427 Maple Ave E and proceeded to the employee area to use the restroom. The employee confronted the man, who said he had been using the employee-area bathroom for 20 years. He then became irate and yelled racial slurs at the employee, police said.  The employee told the man to leave the store and never return. The man left before police arrivd on scene.  
• A resident reported at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 15 he left his Lacrosse stick unattended with his bicycle on the Town Green, 144 Maple Avenue NE, while he went into a neighboring business. When he returned to his bicycle someone had taken his Lacrosse stick.
• A resident  turned in unused ammunition for destruction at 4:07 p.m. Feb. 18 at Vienna Police Headquarters, 215 Center Street South. 
• A customer reported at 8:40 p.m. Feb. 18 an employee of Advanced Auto, 311 Maple Ave E, had accused him of taking an automotive part without paying for it. The employee stated he was informed by another employee that the customer had been in the store earlier and when he left the automotive part was missing. The store employee said he would contact his supervisor to determine if the incident should be pursued.
• A resident reported between 8 p.m. Feb. 19 and 5:30 a.m. Feb. 20, the driver's side of his vehicle, from the front fender to the rear quarter panel, had been scratched by what appeared to be a key.
• A woman reported at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21 she had lost her wallet after getting gas at the Shell Station at 252 Maple Avenue W.
