Kilmer Middle School got a late holiday gift on Friday: A $1,000 donation from the Vienna Shopping Center through its holiday shopping center spree contest.
Vienna resident Kim Engman won the contest, which gave her a $500 shopping spree and also allowed her to name a school of her choice for a donation of twice that amount; she chose Kilmer, according to an announcement from the school.
But the giving didn't stop there: Principal Doug Tysons challenged his students to match the donation in three days.
The seventh and eighth graders rose to the challenge. How much will they be giving back to the community themselves? Read the full story by Ellie Altman to find out.
