Students from four Vienna elementary schools are among those who will be in the spotlight tonight at a Greater Reston Art Center (GRACE) reception showcasing works created by area students.
The works are from 13 of the 43 schools that participate in the volunteer-led GRACE Art, the signature art education and enrichment program of the Greater Reston Arts Center.
Flint Hill Elementary, Vienna Elementary and Westbriar Elementary are all included in the show. The Vienna-based Green Hedges School, which draws students from across Virginia, is also featured.
The artwork is inspired by 12 different portfolios, including those of Alexander Calder, Edgar Degas, Flowers in Art, Horses in Art, Robert Lobe, Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Native American Art, Pablo Picasso, Faith Ringgold, Mark Rothko and Rembrandt van Rijn.
Other participating schools include: Academy of Christian Education, Common Ground Child Care Center, Forest Edge Elementary, Forestville Elementary, Fox Mill Elementary, Herndon Elementary, Lake Anne Elementary, North Springfield Elementary and Oakton Elementary.
The reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The works will be on display ay GRACE, 12001 Market St., through the end of June.
