Update 6:44 p.m.: The water main break has been repaired, and the road has reopened, according to a town alert.

Original: Town of Vienna crews are repairing a water main break in the 400 block of Courthouse Road SW on Saturday morning,shutting down the road for much of the day.

The road will be closed from Ware to Nutley Streets, according to a Town of Vienna alert.

Some homes will have interrupted water service as repairs are made.

The town has seen a number of water breaks this month, including a string of nine breaks in one week earlier this month.

Public Information Officer Kirstyn Barr and Director of Public Work Dennis Johnson said earlier this month in a letter to Patch that "extreme fluctuations in temperature are the main contributors" to the spike in water main breaks across town.
