Update: Kingsley Road Reopened After Water Main Break
Incident left some residents without water on one of the hottest days of the year
Update 3 p.m.: The water main break is now repaired and water service has been restored, according to a Town of Vienna alert.
Town crews are making temporary repairs to the road; permanent repairs will be made at a later date, the alert said.
Update 10:39 a.m.: Resident Joan Walsh said around 10:30 that her water had returned, but it was brown.
She said it appeared that not all homes in the area were affected by the break: Her neighbors on Ware Street never lost water, she said.
Update 10:29 a.m: Town spokeswoman Kirstyn Barr said there is not yet a time estimate for water restoration or the reopening of the road.
Barr said crews were marking the gas line so they could begin excavation for repairs.
Original 9:57 a.m.: A water main break on Kingsley Road SW shut down the street on Saturday morning, leaving some residents without water on what weather experts have said will be one of the hottest days of the year.
The road is closed between Nutley Street and Meadow Lane SW.
It's not clear what caused the break, nor how long it will take to repair.
Another water main break shut down Hill Top Road NE earlier this week, on Fourth of July.
Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
