Chantilly Woman Arrested in Infant Death Case

Caregiver charged with child abuse, murder in 11-month-old's death after car ride from Vienna to Reston

The babysitter of an 11-month-old boy who last October and later died has been charged with child abuse, neglect and murder in the case.

Vienna Police said in a statement Tuesday that Carol Lutsky, 20, of Chantilly,  was arrested and taken into custody Monday by Vienna Police Department detectives and the Fairfax County Police Department.

She is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Fairfax County EMS brought the child to Reston Hospital Center, where he was treated before being flown to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

The boy died there at 11:50 p.m. Oct. 6. It remains unclear where exactly the boy resided, VPD spokesman Gary Lose said.

Vienna Police said Tuesday an autopsy by the District of Columbia Medical Examiner’s Office showed the boy, Nehemiah Williams, died from blunt force trauma to the upper body. Officials then ruled his death a homicide, the department said.

Vienna Police Detectives presented its findings to a Fairfax County Grand Jury last week before moving forward with the arrest.
