More About Thoreau Middle School
Thoreau Middle School's namesake is Henry David Thoreau, the famous American poet, philosopher and author who once said "go confidently in the direction of your dreams." The school has tried to adopt that saying in both its curriculum and supporting extracurricular activities. It offers mentor coach services, a college partnership program, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and a range of world language classes. With pride as the "Golden Eagles," students are also active in the math team, the National Junior Honor Society, student council, chorus, and art, drama, technology and soccer clubs. The school has a business partnership with Navy Federal Credit Union.
