Madison High School Hosts Back to School Kickoff and Sponsors Wanted for Halloween Parade

A look at what's going on in Vienna and nearby Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Join the Vienna Choral Society for its kickoff celebration tonight at the Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna. The celebration is free and open to new members, returning members, and non-singers for networking and some singing. The celebration will be catered by the Choral Society’s newest partner, the Vienna Whole Foods Market. Click here to RSVP.  

Sponsors Wanted for Vienna Halloween Parade: The Vienna Halloween Parade is seeking sponsors for its 67th annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 23. Madison HS will host its Back to School Kickoff for students and parents tonight at 5 p.m. Students will be able to pick up their schedules and info for the new school year.

Donate your old magazines and paperback books to detainees at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center through the DAR Fairfax County Literacy Project. Regular donors may leave publications in sturdy plastic bags at the usual location on the last Tuesday of each month from 9 am to 7 pm. Be sure to remove mailing labels from magazines. First-time donors may call Florence Roseborough at (703) 281-2498 for information.

The Teen Improv Club is starting up soon. This club is open to teens 11 to 17 years old who are interested in learning to perform improv comedy. For more information, call Brandy Wyatt at 703-255-5721.
