Talk Like a Pirate Day, Vienna ES Back to School Night

Avast! Talk Like a Pirate Day is Thursday. Celebrate at the Patrick Henry Library, where they’re hosting a Talk Like a Pirate Day Variety Show with stories, songs, puppets. The event is at 2:30 p.m. at the library on 101 Maple Avenue East.

Vienna Elementary School will host its Back to School Night at 7:30 p.m.

Special Topics in Memoir: Pulling it All Together workshop will begin today and will run through Oct. 31 at the Community Center. This class will assist writers in polishing the memoirs they have written. The cost is $78 for residents and $96 for out of town participants.

Chapter 227, Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. will meet tonight at 7:30 pm in Neighbor’s Restaurant in the Cedar Lane Shopping Center. The meeting will feature Alexy Ivanchukow, who survived the Russian Revolution and Hitler’s Germany as a child and later moved to America and served in the army during the Korean War and was a Foreign Service Officer in the US State Department.
