Vienna Community Center Gets Vacation, Watch Out for Craigslist Scammers — And How Much Will it Cost to Part At Metro?

1. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors decided last week that commuters will have to pay $4.75 a day to park in the garage at Wiehle-Reston East Station and $65 for monthly passes, and also gave the green light to an interim parking lot next to the McLean Metro station on Route 123 in Tysons. Would you pay the fee?

2. If that deal on Craigslist seems too good to be true, it probably is. Vienna police are warning residents after Craigslist Scams Hit Vienna; number residents reported theft or attempt scams using the online classifieds site.

3. Yes, the Vienna Community Center gets a vacation too. Crews will clean the center starting Aug. 19, and through Sept. 2, the center will have no classes and abbreviated hours. More information here.

4. State Sen. Mark Herring (D-Loudoun), Virginia’s Democratic candidate for attorney general, will unveil his plan for ethics reform Wednesday, in light of the gift scandal surrounding Gov. Bob McDonnell.

If elected attorney general, Herring will “work with the General Assembly to strengthen and introduce measures that prevent corruption, hold elected officials accountable and work to restore public trust,” according to a release from his campaign. 

5. E.W. Jackson, Virginia’s Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, is drawing criticism for saying the Democratic Party is “anti-God.”
