Family Pass’s First Raffle a Major Success
Fairfax, VA – May 30, 2014 – A small nonprofit organization is making a big impact in its local community. Normally unaccustomed to substantial fund soliciting, Family Pass of Fairfax County adopted a new initiative last year to focus on raising significant funds for their housing assistance programs. As a part of their strategy, the charity created its first raffle contest this spring.
The lucky winner was announced on May 1. Jeff Gage, managing director/senior advisor for City National Rochdale Investment Management, is no stranger to Family Pass. During Family Pass’s Spring Soiree fundraiser last year, Gage won the highest bid for a weekend at the Eastern Shore, where he proposed to his girlfriend Lisa Resnick.
Participants in the raffle could purchase one ticket for $100, or three for just $250. This year’s prize was a one-week, paid vacation to a villa in Tuscany, along with $1,500 in gift certificates, a $500 rental car voucher, and a $1,000 American Express gift card.
Out of 400 possible tickets available for purchase, 360 were sold, raising almost $35,000 to go towards safe housing and career development programs to lead homeless families in Fairfax County on the path to self-sufficiency. These programs include rental assistance, job training, child care, healthcare, counseling, transportation and more.
