NEED: Toiletries for Homeless and Abused Children

The Alternative House:
  ** Is the only emergency refuge in Northern Virginia which houses abused and homeless children,

  ** Helps targeted youth as young as nine years old steer clear of drugs and gangs,
  ** Shelters homeless teens and young adults, 
  ** Provides housing and support for homeless young mothers while teaching vital skills to become educated and nurturing parents, 

  ** Provides support to help homeless teens to go to college, and much more

Alternative House provides toiletry kits for various youth in each program.  We need your assistance with collecting these items.  This is a tremendous help to us which allows Alternative House to help the youth and families in our community. 

Toiletry collection drive

Please remember that this is a service project – organize a collection drive to obtain the items, an event to raise / collect funds to purchase the items, or you may collect the items yourself.  All of the toiletries do not have to be exactly the same, but each bag should contain each of the items on the list below. 

Toiletry Kit

Every kit should be in a zip-top bag and contain the following:

·  1 shampoo

·  1 conditioner

·  1 small brush/comb

·  Small shower gel/bar of soap

·  1toothbrush

·  1 tube of toothpaste

·  floss

·  Small stick of deodorant

·  1 razor

For every THREE toiletry kits that you collect items for, assemble, and deliver you will earn 1 hour of community service.  Please contact Christine Bartell for service letter if needed at 703-506-9191.

Please drop off completed toiletry kits at our Emergency Shelter for Teenagers between 9am – 8pm any day of the week.  Please do not forget to fill out a donation form!  The shelter is located near Tysons Corner shopping mall at 2100 Gallows Road, Vienna, VA 22182. (Look for a little house with a purple door!)
