Obituary: Ruth Elizabeth Rodier

Ruth passed away surrounded by family on July 16th, 2013 in Vienna, VA at her old home place on Beulah Road.

She was born on August 15, 1925 in Vienna, VA to the late Louis and Anna Rodier. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Martin and brother, Louis Rodier. She is survived by her brother Vernon Rodier, and her sisters Dorothy Moran and Edith Mellott. She is also survived by 12 nieces, nephew and their spouses, numerous great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece.

Ruth graduated in 1944 from Fairfax High School.  She retired from the State Deparatment-Bureau of Intelligence and Research in 1980 after 36 years of service. During which time she received several Commendable Service awards.  She was a lifelong fan of the Redskins (especially Billy Kilmer) and the Senators and later the Nationals.  She was passionate about life and enjoyed the beach, bowling, ocean cruises, shooting pool, dancing (especially the polka) and traveling. Always the life of the party she could be found reciting "The Birdie Poem" on many occasions.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ruth's Life Celebration at Oakton Church of the Brethren, 10025 Courthouse Road, Vienna, VA on Saturday, July 20 from 10:00 AM to time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Andrew Chapel Cemetery located at the corner of Trap Rd. and Route 7, Vienna, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund (curealzfund.org) or Capital Caring Hospice
