Volunteer SUCCESS! Day of Service Vienna January 4, 2014

More than 85 individuals braved the freezing temps to come out Saturday January 4th to learn more about local and regional, volunteer activities. This special day was part of the inaugural countdown for Governor-Elect McAuliffe who chose this special day for focusing on community action. The organizations represented were: Volunteer Fairfax, CHO, Shepherd Center Oakton-Vienna, Lands and Waters, Sierra Club, Toastmasters, Capital Caring, Town of Vienna, High Performance Aging, Honor Card, and Auxiliary American Legion Post 180. What was terrific were the number of young people attending with their parents seeking to learn how they could get connected. From this event came a great start-up idea to get the HS students more engaged.  Already, local businesses like Caffe Amouri and PostNet are willing to give rewards for blocks of hours earned. For more information about how you can get more engaged in volunteering please contact: Cherie Lejeune cell: 203-400-3668 or latripp24@gmail.com Here more event photos:  https://www.facebook.com/cbtlejeune/media_set?set=a.10201805525913267&type=1
