Fairfax Democrats to Hold 'Blue Jeans Ball' to Celebrate Terry McAuliffe Inauguration

Tickets are $75.

Fairfax County Democrats will gather next month in Northern Virginia to celebrate the inauguration of Terry McAuliffe as governor of Virginia.

McAuliffe, a Democrat, won the governor's race Nov. 6 with 48 percent of the vote to Republican Ken Cuccinelli's 45.5 percent. A third candidate, Libertarian Robert Sarvis, took 6.6 percent of the vote.

The gala for McAuliffe supporters, a Democratic fundraiser, is dubbed the Blue Jeans Inaugural Ball. It's scheduled for Friday, Jan. 17 from 8 – 11 p.m. at the
Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center, 8333 Little River Turnpike in Annandale.

Those who attend are encouraged to incorporate denim into their party attire, according to information from the Fairfax County Democrats:

WHAT TO WEAR: Guests are welcome to wear any of the following: Blue jeans with a fancy top (such as tuxedo shirt and jacket), fancy attire that incorporates denim anywhere, a "denim and diamonds" theme, or simply dress up in full ballroom attire.

Individual tickets are $75 and include admission plus two beverages. The gala promises food, drink, live music and "special guests."
