Free testing will be offered in Fairfax County this week as part of National HIV Testing Day on June 27.
The test will be offered at a Fairfax Walgreens store at from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3050-A Nutley St..
The Virginia Department of Health teamed up with Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS, a coalition of public and private sector partners, to offer the free testing services.

Statistics on HIV from the Center for Disease Control:
- More than 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection, and almost 1 in 5 (18.1 percent) are unaware of their infection
- Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, particularly young black/African American MSM, are most seriously affected by HIV.
- By race, blacks/African Americans face the most severe burden of HIV.
