Fairfax Pharmacy to Offer Free HIV Testing

National HIV Testing Day is June 27.

Free testing will be offered in Fairfax County this week as part of National HIV Testing Day on June 27.

The test will be offered at a Fairfax Walgreens store at from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3050-A Nutley St..

The Virginia Department of Health teamed up with Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS, a coalition of public and private sector partners, to offer the free testing services.

Statistics on HIV from the Center for Disease Control:

  • More than 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection, and almost 1 in 5 (18.1 percent) are unaware of their infection
  • Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, particularly young black/African American MSM, are most seriously affected by HIV.
  • By race, blacks/African Americans face the most severe burden of HIV.
