Firefighters with the Vienna Volunteer Station wore pink shirts last week, joining firefighters across the nation in promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Fairfax County fire stations participated in the weeklong event, meant to heighten awareness as firefighters responded to both emergency and nonemergency calls.
Donations from local employee groups, Fairfax County Local 2068, Fairfax County Progressive Firefighters, Inc., UnitedHealthcare and others funded the purchase of the T-shirts, according to a news release from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
