Vienna Home and Garden Tour will Showcase Sustainable Homes and Businesses

The tour showcases 15 sustainable properties in Vienna.

Participants in this year's Sustainability Home and Garden Tour will showcase improvements made to their homes to make them environmentally friendly.

Sponsored by the Community Enhancement Commission, the free tour features 15 homes and businesses that have used creative methods to make their property sustainable.

Some of this year's featured homes and businesses include:

Elevation Burger: The first restaurant to be featured on the tour, owners Neeraj and Lisa Vohra have made a huge effort to make Elevation Burger a sustainable, environmentally conscious business. The restaurant uses organic, grass-fed beef and recycled olive oil. Guests will receive an order of fries — served on the house.

Louise Archer Elementary School: A joint effort between the school and the parent garden club have produced outdoor classrooms, rain barrels, and a rain garden built by Girl Scouts.

809 Meadow Lane SW: Fisher Custom Homes will take guests on a tour of a home under construction. The home features an Energy Star-rated duct work system. Rob Fisher has earned the Town of Vienna's Green Business Award and guests can take a close look at how he turns homes into sustainable homes.

The free tour takes place Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Tour maps can be picked up from the Vienna Community Center on Sept. 15 or printed from the town website. For more information visit www.viennava.gov.
