And when will temperatures get above freezing?

Historically low freezing cold temperatures, courtesy of a "polar vortex," closed schools Tuesday in Vienna. What will the weather be like the next 24 hours?

Here's what The Weather Channel is saying about Vienna weather Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon:

Tuesday evening: From 6 p.m. to midnight, temperatures will hover between 17 degrees and 12 degrees. After midnight, the temperature stays at 12 degrees clear through to 6 a.m. The National Weather Service says the low temperature Tuesday night will be 6 degrees.

Wednesday morning: At 7 a.m., the temperature in Vienna will be 12 degrees. It will slowly warm up to 24 degrees by 12 noon. From 1-5 p.m. temperatures warm up just a bit more, to just under freezing, at 30 degrees.

Fairfax County is delaying the start of school Wednesday by two hours.

Temperatures will crack the freezing point on Thursday, with highs expected to be in the high 30s.
