Walking For Cystic Fibrosis

Sunday's fundraiser in Vienna nets nearly $91,000 for research and treatments

Walkers in Vienna raised nearly $91,000 to support Cystic Fibrosis research through the Great Strides Walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Sunday.

After a week of rain, sunny skies greeted the 200 people who gathered on the Town Green for the three-mile walk. Mayor Jane Seeman kicked off the event, which lead walkers on an out-and-back course on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail toward Reston.

Great Strides is the foundation's biggest fundraising event. There have been 12 local walks held throughout the greater Washingon, D.C. area in the past two weeks. On Sunday,  walks were also held in Arlington, Falls Church, Leesburg, Reston and Watertown, among others.
