Weekend Guide: Beach Boys, Caboose Open House, Blood Drive

FRIDAY

Listen to Sarah Bennett Swanner at 6:30 p.m. on the Town Green as part of Vienna's Summer On The Green Concert series. Make sure to bring blankets and chairs; alcohol and pets are  not permitted. For weather updates and cancellations, call 703-255-7842.

It's Club Night at , 107 Church Street NE. From 7 to 10 p.m. stop by for coffee, snacks, smoothies and more as – or, bring in your own records from your deep stash in the basement. There are also several board games out for enjoyment, or, bring your own! 

They've competed all summer long, but tonight is when the bands in   Mid-Atlantic Band Battle Five have their final showdown.Finals begin at 8 p.m. at Jammin' Java, 227 Maple Ave E. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 at the door. Buy Tickets. For more information about the bands,

The Gipsy Kings are the flamenco superstars behind the international sensation “Bamboleo.” They come to Wolftrap at 8:30 p.m. to "spice up the night with passionate, worldly beats that showcase their distinct guitar style." They'll also have a show on Saturday.

SATURDAY

The runs from 8 a.m. to noon in the caboose parking lot. It's time to start preparing for the peach pie/cobbler and peach jam contest. Winners of each will win a $25 gift certificate to the Crepes at the Market (Reubens Crepes). Peach type must be listed. Those entering contest must bring items to the market before 11 a.m on 9/3/2011.

Inova Blood Donor Services will hold a blood drive at the from 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Make an appointment to give blood: either online or by calling 1-866 BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372). Cookies and juice will be served.

Learn at The Vienna Caboose open house, held by the Northern Virginia Model Railroaders from 1 to 5 p.m. The Caboose is near the intersection of the W+OD Trail and Ayr Hill Road.To watch a video of our last visit at the open house, click the video in the media player to the right of this article.

SUNDAY

come to town for a 3 p.m. performance at , 1551 Trap Rd. Tickets range from $25 to $38.
