FRIDAY

  • Friends and Hunter Mill community members are honoring longtime school board member Stu Gibson, who is retiring this month after 16 years of service.
  • At 7 p.m., head over to the American Legion, 330 Center St N., for t a free performance of country, blues, pop,  jazz by singer/guitarist Louise Neely. Tonight's event also includes a chicken wing cook-off. The event is free.

Two more chances to get in some early holiday shopping:

  • is "an annual holiday bazaar with vendors offering a variety of merchandise, much of it homemade, such as holiday decor, gifts for all ages, jewelry, knot and crochet items, custom embroidery, religious articles, and objets d'art.  Visits with Santa, too!  The proceeds of this event go to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society at OLGC in their efforts to help the needy in the greater Vienna area." It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at  , 8601 Wolftrap Rd, Vienna.
  • "The School Student Council Association will host its from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 2444 Flint Hill Road in Vienna. The event will feature professional crafters, photos with Santa, a book sale, bake sale, cake walk,  Secret Santa Shop where children can shop for inexpensive gifts, and a holiday cafe for lunch."
  • Bring the kids to (Tot Rock) Alastar Moock, at 10:30 a.m. at, 227 Maple Ave E, Vienna. Tickets are $10

  • Get into the holiday spirit with "This annual musical celebration hosts a performance by the United States Marine Band and a Sing-A-Long of Christmas carols and Hanukkah songs with choir and vocal groups from the metropolitan Washington area. Wolf Trap will be participating in Toys for Tots by collecting new, unwrapped toys at the entrance to the Filene Center before the Sing-A-Long. Donations are strictly voluntary and not a requirement. Admission is free and no tickets are required. Parking is free but limited so please plan on arriving early. Bring a candle and join the tradition of exiting the Filene Center with a candlelight processional during the last verse of “Silent Night.” There will also be a “Jing-A-Long” during the singing of Jingle Bells so remember to bring a candle, a bell, and a new, unwrapped toy!" The performance begins at 4 p.m.
