Global Youth Service Day

Global Youth Service Day 2012 is just around the corner and it is shaping up to be an amazing event!  Volunteer Fairfax and its Youth Advisory Board, consisting of Fairfax County students, have planned what is shaping up to be the largest Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) Fairfax County has ever seen. Most projects will be held on Saturday, April 21st, but there are volunteer opportunities throughout the month! GYSD is tailored towards youth between the ages of 5 and 25, and offers a variety of projects and events around the region. As this is a global event, it will be a fun filled event that will connect children, students, and families to other similar volunteer efforts around the world. Be sure to sign up early, as spots are limited!  For more information about Global Youth Service Day projects in your community please visit Volunteer Fairfax at: http://www.volunteerfairfax.org/individuals/globalyouthserviceday.php

Families and students can assist various local and regional non-profit organizations. Participants will also be able to make contributions to a variety of issues that face the community such as poverty, hunger, literacy, and the environment. This event will be a day full of service that participants can be proud of and continue on for several years after anywhere in the world. As Global Youth Service Day is a world-wide event, it will be a fun filled, fulfilling day that will connect children, students, and adults to other similar volunteers around the world.
