The Shields Brothers "Danger Danger" Release Show + The Getaways + The A+ Dropouts

Early in 2008, The Getaways began strumming tunes and singing their hearts out in the local scene with hopes of making something of their music. Through a couple lineup changes, The Getaways behold the most solid roster yet: with Mike Altner at the microphone, Matt Higgins and Danial Mason weilding the axes, Brent McBride carrying the bottom end, and Austin McBride on the drums, this band embedded their distinctive synth-laden melodies into the very minds of fans and friends over the years.

Now in 2010, this group of Maryland-based rockers have accomplished and achieved more than most local bands can say, with no intention of slowing down. Up and down the Mid-Atlantic region, along with playing all of the major venues in the Baltimore area, the band has shared bills and directly supported noteworthy acts such as We The Kings (S-Curve Records), Mayday Parade (Atlantic Records), Cash Cash (Univeral Republic) Jimmie's Chicken Shack (Island Def Jam), Just Surrender (Razor and Tie Records), and The Audition (Victory Records), just to name a few.

The band's debut EP, "As The City Sleeps", was self-released on May 15, 2009, and ported to iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Amazon, and many other online digital distribution retailers as of September 1, 2009. Produced by Kory Gable (Senses Fail, The Dangerous Summer, Mercy Mercedes) at Pin Up Recording, the record documents the very synth-rock foundation the band built on for their second, more rhythmic release, "The Boldest Thought", which busted out of the gates more than a year later, on July 24, 2010.

Between the two releases, The Getaways have been featured in Substream Magazine, on Baltimore's 98 Rock (97.9 FM) radio station, and even signed a licensing deal with ESPN to have four songs off the first record featured during the 2010 Lacrosse season. However, the band's inclusion on the Maryland date of the 2010 Vans Warped Tour and the opportunity to tour the East Coast late in the summer of 2010 with Just Surrender (Razor & Tie Records) only foreshadows things to come for The Getaways in the future.

These kids spend their weekdays filling their report cards with A+s, but when the school bell rings, they rock the nation's capital with their high energy shows.

Even though they're only in middle school, they are veterans of the stage, performing with well-known groups like Forever the Sickest Kids and Sister Hazel in venues such as the National Sylvan Theater, Jammin Java, the 930 Club DC, the Quarter Baltimore, and JAXX. In their first 5 months, the A+ Dropouts toured throughout Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania while working on their first self-titled album featuring their incredible hit single "Someone New".
Formed in 2009, the A+ Dropouts consist of vocalist Cheska Zaide, guitarist TBA, bassist Mik Hintze, and drummer Brendan Evans.

With the influences of artists like Green Day, Blink 182, No Doubt, Metallica, Guns and Roses, and Fall Out Boy, the A+ Dropouts have created their own appealing sound. Their extraordinary talent and charm has attracted an instant fan base and has inspired followers of all ages.

Young, charismatic, and highly experienced. Recent appearances include the 930 Club, Rams Head Live, the State Theatre and countless others. They combine solid groves, crisp harmonies, and excellent lead vocals with the showmanship of stadium rock bands. The brothers played music together as they worked their way through college. Now they're hitting the D.C. metro music scene!

Devin, 23, a.k.a the scientist, plays lead bass and sings vocals. May '09 he was awarded a master's degree in engineering from UVA. He proudly wears his specially tailored "smart pants" to every show. He's the tech guru of the Bros allowing the band to play an outrageous range of music (unlikely for a trio). Devin sings in a low tenor that bridges the gap between his two brothers and makes the strong three part harmonies the band is known for possible.
Tristan, 26, a.k.a, the serious one, plays lead guitar and sings lead vocals. Tristan makes sure that the show runs like clockwork. He plays a blistering guitar and often defies the laws of physics by literally blowing people's minds with sound alone. As a performer Tristan has an incredibly strong stage presence. When he sings and plays guitar you can't help but listen. He sings in a baritone voice that is perfect for rock music.

Rory, 21, a.k.a., the blonde one, plays lead drums and sings lead vocals. He is a ball of energy. Rory takes most of his inspiration from Tommy Lee, Keith Moon and Animal from the Muppet show. Showmanship is priority number one with Rory. He is often seen standing while he is playing the drums or running around the stage working the crowd who stand, often transfixed, by what they are seeing. He has a high tenor singing voice that has the clarity needed for singing most modern pop. His voice, in combination with his brother's voices, allows the band of brothers to play and sing almost any song.

Their most frequent question: Are you really brothers? Yes, they are really brothers. They live together in Rixeyville, Virginia.
