The Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation presents its 15th  annual Blues Festival this weekend, with performances and activities throughout Falls Church for Blues fans of all ages.

“You could literally park your car at the East Falls Church metro station and walk all the way to the West Falls Church station and see blues performances everywhere along the way,” said Nikki Graves Henderson, the director of the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation. “Even Clarendon has declared this as their blues weekend as well.”

Early risers can enjoy fresh local produce and live blues Saturday morning as the City of Falls Church monthly Farmer’s Market will featuring Charles Solomon on the harmonica.  Louisiana-based harp player Choo Choo Charlie will lead an early morning Harmonica workshop for kids of all ages, and the Yorktown Youth Blues Band of Yorktown High School will officially kick off the festival in Cherry Hill Park at noon on Saturday.

2011 will mark several firsts for the Tinner Hill Blues Fest as well: this is the  first year the City of Falls Church has granted permission to serve alcoholic beverages at Cherry Hill Park.

“The beer is produced by a Falls Church brewing company, Mad Fox Brewing Company and the wine is a delicious home bread wine as well,” Henderson said.
