Tax Day: Which Post Offices Are Open Late?

You might have to leave Vienna if you wait for last-minute mailing.

For those tax filers who don't E-file and who like to wait until the last minute, these Northern Virginia post offices are open later than 5 p.m. on Tax Day April 15. This information was provided by the U.S. Postal Service.

The Vienna location, at 200 Lawyers Rd NW, only accepts mail through 5 p.m., so you'll have to head to one of these locations for a late dropoff:

Alexandria 1100 Wythe St. 6 p.m. Fairfax Chantilly 4410 Brookfield Corporate Dr. 6 p.m. Merrifield 8409 Lee Highway 8 p.m. Sterling Potomac Falls 46164 Westlake Dr. 6 p.m. Herndon 590 Grove Street 6 p.m. Prince William 3360 Post Office Rd. 6 p.m. Winchester 340 N Pleasant Valley Rd. 6 p.m.

The IRS says searly 30 percent of filers wait until the last two weeks to file. Returns must be postmarked by April 15.
