Vienna Businesses Team Up For Black Friday, Small Business Saturday

Coupon book, shoppers card good through December

Hundreds of shoppers hit Tysons Corner, Fair Oaks and the big box stores for Black Friday on Friday morning.

But businesses in Vienna say there's no reason to leave town to find that perfect gift, or, a good deal.

This holiday season, several local businesses are teaming up to offer incentives for shoppers to keep their dollars in Vienna.

In coordination with the second annual nationwide "Small Business Saturday," Mayor Jane Seeman, along with the Town Council and Town Business Liasion Committee, declared this Saturday "Vienna Business Saturday" to encourage residents to patronize businesses in town.

"This day is strategically set between “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” when Vienna’s citizens are encouraged to make a special effort to patronize businesses in the Town. We want to focus attention on the distinctive character of Vienna’s businesses, both large and small, and what they have to offer customers," the TBLC wrote in a letter about the day.

In addition to offering specials on Black Friday weekend and for Monday's holiday stroll, Church Street and Maple Avenue businesses created a "Church Street District Shoppers Card." Residents that shop at five of the 25 shops on the card and get a signature at each will be entered into a raffle for $25 to $500 gift certificates valid at any of the participating stores. Residents can pick up a card at any of the stores listed. The card must be turned in by Dec. 16, and residents can turn in multiple cards. A list of stores is at the end of this article.

Shoppers will also be able to pick up a four-page book of coupons for Church Street District stores, valid through the end of December. They offer specials ranging from 15 percent off at Black Eyed Susan to $1 off any drink before 7:30 a.m. at Caffe Amouri. A copy of the coupon book is attached to this article. Residents must print out the book and present coupons in order to receive the discounts.

Some Black Friday Weekend specials:

"Our Small Works show is in the gallery through the end of December; artworks are all for sale and you can take them home at time of purchase. As pieces are sold, new pieces go up, so check back often. Fifty percent of each sale goes to support our Creating a Mosaic of Military Families charity, so when you are buying this art, you are supporting both an artist and a program that supports families of our deployed military; two great causes indeed!"

Yes! We love having the small independent businesses here, and they need our support. If there are any local shops that you would be sorry to see disappear, make a commitment to buy something at each of them before the end of the year.
