Vienna Chef Tim Ma: DC's 'Hottest Chef'

Co-owner of Maple Ave Restaurant now competes in Eater's East Coast competition.

The "hottest chef" in the Washington, DC region, according to its restaurant-goers, is Vienna's own Tim Ma.

And now, the owner of Maple Ave Restaurant has a chance at taking the Northeast divison title too.

Ma came out on top of several rounds of voting late last week in Eater DC's search for the most attractive chef in the region.

, opened Maple Ave Restaurant with fiancée and co-owner Joey Hernandez three and a half years ago.

Since then, the pair has picked up plenty of awards, for everything from green business practices to their approach to food, and earlier this year, for being one of Washington's Top 100 resaurants.

But until now, they haven't earned anything quite like an honor based on Ma's looks.

Hernandez said Ma was nominated when Eater DC put out a call for the competition last week. He made it through several rounds of competition before arriving at the finals.
