Candlelight Vigils to Remember Victims of Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech

On Saturday, Vienna residents will hold two events to honor victims of gun violence and demand change.

A group of residents from Vienna and other areas of Northern Virginia plan to hold two vigils Saturday to remember victims of gun violence — including those close to home killed in the 2007 attack at Virginia Tech.

But organizers hope the events can help demand action on gun violence prevention legislation, including universal background checks.

"The Senate will be in its final stages of debate and by standing together we'll make sure our senators know how many people are behind them in passing legislation," organizers wrote on an event page.
