Fairfax County is second on Main Street's annual list of the 15 wealthiest counties in America.

Loudoun County leads the list, on which 10 of the top 15 are located in D.C. metropolitan area.

Rankings were based on 2010 U.S. Census data.

Fairfax County has a median household income of $103,000.  It's also noted for real estate values, with a median home value of $507,800

Fairfax has an unemployment rate of about 4 percent, compared with 8.3 percent nationwide.

Main Street's 15 richest counties all have a median income about double the national average of $49,445.  They are:
