Hunter Mill Road Bridge To Reopen Monday Night

The bridge, located between Hunter Station Road and Lawyers Road, closed Nov. 14 as a result of an inspection that showed 13 of the bridge's 14 steel beams are corroding. The new, temporary bridge will be open by sundown tonight, said Virginia Department Of Transportation spokeswoman Joan Morris.
The closure, which cut off many commuters' main access point to the Dulles Toll Road, as drivers navigated a 3.2-mile detour that backed up roads into Vienna, Oakton and Reston. A Friday accident on Hunter Station Road made the situation worse for many drivers, putting traffic at a standstill and shutting down part of Lawyers Road.
