Storm Knocks Out Power For 500 In Vienna

Update 11:34 p.m.: About 343 customers are still without power.

Restoration estimates range from now until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Update 10:19 p.m: Power is beginning to be restored to some of the initial 450 residents without it along Lawyers Road, but remains out for at least half of them.

The original outage along Lawyers Road now affects just 257 customers, according to Dominion's website. But another community on Hunter Mill Road just before its intersection with Lawyers Road is now reporting an outage affecting about 106 people.

With the addition of that community, the total number of people without power in the Vienna area remains around 450, according to the Dominion Interactive Outage Map.

The map now estimates power wil be restored in most areas between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Original:  About 500 residents in Vienna are without power Wednesday evening as a result of rain storms with high winds.

The outages began around 7 p.m., some residents told Vienna Patch.

About 450 of those customers live along Lawyers Road in Vienna, a representative from Dominion Power said. High winds knocked out the power there, he said.

There are also about 50 customers without power along Hunter Mill Road just before its intersection with Lawyers Road.

The representative said he did not have an estimate for when power would be restored. The Dominion Interactive Outage map showed an estimated time window of 6 to 8 a.m. Thursday.

About 3,700 customers were without power countywide, according to the map.
