Eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) to Close Overnight Thursday and Friday Nights; Detour onto Westbound Lane

The eastbound lanes of the Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) will be closed overnights from approximately 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

The closing is necessary because rail construction crews will be working on a large concrete structure that will straddle two piers on each side of the eastbound DIAAH. The exit to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) will remain open.

This  Airports Highway closure will be implemented as follows. All times are approximate:
7 p.m. - The westbound left lane o will close near Route 7.
7:30 p.m. - The eastbound right lane will close near Route 7.
8 p.m. - All eastbound traffic will be diverted on to a single westbound lane, which will remain open to accommodate diverted Toll Road traffic (see listing below). At this time, westbound traffic will be two-way.
Closures will be picked up in reverse order by 5 a.m. the following mornings.

The eastbound Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) will remain open next week.

Full Closure of Westbound I-66 at the Dulles Connector Road Split (Route 267) Overnight Next Friday and Saturday

Westbound Interstate 66 will be closed at the Dulles Connector Road from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday so crews can install acoustical barriers at that junction. These closures will affect drivers bound for destinations along I-66 west of Arlington.

Thru traffic will be detoured on to the Dulles Connector Road westbound, to the Capital Beltway north, to a U-turn at Georgetown Pike to south on the beltway. Drivers can then rejoin I-66 at the beltway.

To avoid the closure, drivers bound for destinations inside the Capital Beltway may find alternate routes via other local westbound roads by exiting I-66 prior to the I-66/Dulles Connector Road split. For example, traffic bound for the Falls Church City/Broad Street and Idylwood areas can exit before the detour and use Route 29/Washington Street to connect with Broad Street (Route 7 west).

Lane Closures of I-495 at Route 123 Continue Night and Now Day

Multiple overnight lane closures on southbound I-495 at Route 123 are set to continue next week as crews construct the bridge over the beltway.  Details will be announced daily. This stretch of the Beltway between Route 123 and the Lewinsville Road bridge are affected by both the subway and HOT Lanes.

The ramp from southbound Route 123 to southbound I-495 is also expected to be closed Monday through Saturday nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

To access the on-ramp, drivers can stay on Route 123 south, turn right on International Drive, right on Galleria Drive, right on Tysons Boulevard, then a slight left on to northbound Route 123 to make an immediate right on to the ramp to southbound Route 123.

(Note: If paving operations in this area occur during these times, an alternate detour will be required. Details will be announced.)

Bridge Construction to Continue over Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road at Leesburg Pike (Route 7); Multiple Overnight Closures and Detours Required

Cranes will be constructing bridge segments over the Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road intersection with Leesburg Pike (Route 7) in the overnight hours next week.

Thru traffic along both directions of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) still will be open, but left turns on to Westpark or Gosnell will not be allowed. For safety reasons, thru traffic on Westpark/Gosnell will not be prohibited, and will be detoured by using Route 7 as follows:
Southbound Westpark Drive thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to eastbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to westbound Leesburg Pike, then U-turn at either Spring Hill Road or Tyco Road, and continue on eastbound Leesburg Pike towards Gosnell Road.

Weather permitting, these closures will be in place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Fridays for approximately the next four to six weeks.
