Traffic Tangles: Overnight Closing of Dulles Access Road; 30-Minute Beltway Delays

Before you head out on your commute or road trip, take a look at these important closings, detours and delays.

Important notes:
• FULL ROAD CLOSURES of Dulles International Airport Access Highway east and west and I-495 north/west at I-395. Details and detour information below.
• TEMPORARY TOTAL CLOSURES of up to 30 minutes on I-495 south after the Dulles Toll Road and at I-66, on I-66 east just before I-495, and on I-495 north at I-395.

Night Work Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

495

• I-495 north from Exit 47, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to Exit 46, Chain Bridge Road(Route 123):Three left lanes closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-495 south from Old Dominion Dr. overpass to Exit 46, Chain Bridge Road (Route 123): Three left lanes closed Tuesday to Thursday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-495 north and south at Old Dominion Drive overpass: Two left lanes closed Monday - Thursday for demolition.
• I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east. Ramp closed Sunday through Thursday nights for concrete girder erection. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.
• I-495 south just past Exit 45, Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) - Three lanes closed through Wednesday nights for bridge overhang work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-495 south from Exit 46, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) to Oak Street overpass: Three right lanes will close Saturday night for traffic shift.
• I-495 north to Exit 47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west Ramp closed Monday and Tuesday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, make a left onto International Dr. south and follow signs to Leesburg Pike (Route 7).
• I-495 south to Exit 47 A and B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and east: Ramps closed Monday and Tuesday nights for traffic shift. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to take Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, make a left onto International Dr. south and follow signs to Leesburg Pike (Route 7).
• I-495 south from Exit 46, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) to Oak St. overpass - Three right lanes closed Monday and Tuesday nights for traffic shift.
• I-495 north to Exit 49A or C, I-66 west Ramp closed through Thursday nights for paving and traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to use either Exit 49 A or C for access to I-66 west.
• I-495 north and south from Lee Hwy (Route 29) overpass to Exit 49, I-66 Three lanes closed Sunday through Thursday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Leesburg Pike

• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at Gosnell Road: Left turn lane closed through Thursday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west from Westpark Drive to Spring Hill Road: Two lanes closed Sunday through Thursday nights for water main installation. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 20 minutes after midnight.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at International Drive: Two left lanes closed Monday to Thursday nights for tunnel work.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Spring Hill Road and Westpark Drive: Two left turn lanes closed Monday through Thursday nights for road work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Westpark Drive: Two left turn lanes closed Sunday through Thursday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267): Right lane closed Friday night for bridge work.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from Westpark Dr. to Chain Bridge Road (Route 123):Two left lanes closed Monday through Thursday nights for tunnel work.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-495 north: Ramp closed Monday and Tuesday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue east, make a U-turn at George Marshall Dr. onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and follow signs to I-495 north.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-495 south Ramp closed Monday and Tuesday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 north to Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, stay to the left, follow signs for I-495 south.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west to I-495 south Ramp closed Monday to Tuesday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue west, make a right onto International Dr. north, right on Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to I-495 south.

Chain Bridge Road (123)/Tysons

• Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) north at Tysons Blvd. Left Turn lane closed Monday throughThursday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) south to I-495 south Ramp closed Thursday night for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Westpark Drive north and south at Leesburg Pike (Route 7): Road closed Sunday through Thursday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Gosnell Road north at Leesburg Pike (Route 7): Two left lanes closed through Thursday nights for pier work.
• Tysons Blvd. east and west from Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) to Galleria Drive : Through lanes closed Monday to Thursday nights for bridge work.
• Galleria Drive east at Tysons Blvd.: Right turn lane closed Monday to Thursday nights for bridge work. Police will be on site for motorist safety.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north to I-495 south: Ramp closed Monday and Tuesday nights for traffic shift and overhead sign work. Traffic will be directed to continue north, make a U-turn at Capital One Dr. onto Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south and follow signs to I-495 south.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south at I-495: Two lanes closed Monday through Friday nights for overhang work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• Westpark Drive overpass east and west at Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) Road closed Monday through Thursday nights for signal work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.

Dulles Connector Road (267)/Dulles International Airport Access Hwy

• Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) east to I-495 south: Ramp closed Sunday through Wednesday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to continue east to Exit 19A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south and follow signs to I-495 south.
• Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) east to I-495 north: Ramp closed Tuesday through Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north, stay to the left, make a left at the signal to I-495 north.
• Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east at I-495: Road closed Sunday and Monday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to use the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) east. Motorists will not be tolled.
• Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. west at I-495: Road closed Tuesday to Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to use Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) west. Motorists will not be tolled.

I- 66

• I-66 east HOV (left exit) to I-495 south Ramps closed Thursday night for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to use the general purpose (right exit) to I-495 south.
• I-66 east general purpose (right exit) to I-495 south: Ramp closed Sunday through Thursday nights for paving.Traffic will be directed to use the HOV (left exit) to I-495 south
• I-66 east from Cedar Lane overpass to Gallows Rd. overpass Two lanes closed Sunday through Thursday night for overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-66 west to I-495 south Ramp closed Tuesday night for overhead sign work.Traffic will be directed to continue west to Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east and then signs to I-495 south.

Weekday work. Closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Expect daytime delays in the Tysons Corner area along the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267), Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Dolley Madison Blvd. (Route 123).
• No left turns from the Route 123 south ramp to Route 7 east. Use International Drive.
