Traffic Tangles: Overnight Closures Up To 30 Minutes On Rt. 66 From Rt. 7 to Nutley Street

Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted. 

I-66

• I-66 west from Exit 66, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to I-495 Single lane closed Sunday - Saturday nights for traffic shift and overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-66 west to I-495 south - Ramp closed Sunday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue west, take Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east and then signs to I-495 south.
• I-66 east from Exit 62, Nutley St. to Gallows Rd. overpass Two lanes closed Tuesday - Thursday night for overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-66 east general purpose (right exit) to I-495 south - Ramp closed Sunday - Saturday nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to use the HOV (left exit) to I-495 south.
• I-66 east HOV (left exit) to I-495 north and south - Ramps closed Sunday - Saturday night for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to use the general purpose (right exit) to I-495 north or south.

Dulles Toll Road/Connector

• Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. west at I-495 - Road closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) west. Motorists will not be tolled.
• Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east at I-495 - Road closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) east. Motorists will not be tolled.  
• Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east to I-495 north - Ramp closed Monday - Thursday nights for concrete girder erection. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north, stay to the left, make a left at the signal to I-495 north.

LEESBURG PIKE (Rt 7)

• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at Gosnell Rd. - Left turn lane closed Sunday - Wednesday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west from Westpark Dr. to Spring Hill Rd. - Multiple lanes closed Sunday - Saturday nights for utility work.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Westpark Dr. - Two left turn lanes closed Sunday - Wednesday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday nights for pier work.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Spring Hill Rd. - Two left turn lanes closed Friday and Saturday nights for road work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from Marshall's Dr. to Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) - Two left lanes closed Tuesday - Friday nights for road work.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from Westpark Dr. to Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) - Two left lanes closed Sunday and Monday nights for tunnel work.

CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD/TYSONS

• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north at Tysons Blvd. - Left turn lane closed Monday - Friday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south at Tysons Blvd. - Two right turn lanes closed Friday and Saturday nights for span work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south to I-495 south - Ramp closed Tuesday - Thursday nights for cantilever construction. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Dolley Madison Blvd. (Route 123) north at Capital One Dr. - Two left lanes closed Sunday - Thursday nights for pier and truss work.
• Westpark Dr. west at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) - Road closed Sunday - Wednesday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Westpark Dr. east from Jones Branch Dr. to Galleria Dr. west - Three left turn lanes closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Gosnell Rd. north at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) - Road closed Sunday - Wednesday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
• Tysons Blvd. east at Galleria Dr. - Through lanes closed Monday - Thursday nights for bridge work.
• Galleria Dr. east at Tysons Blvd. - Right turn lane closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge work.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south at I-495 - Two lanes closed Monday - Wednesday nights for overhang and bridge lighting work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south to I-495 north - Ramp closed Monday night for ramp shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north, make a U-turn at Capital One Dr. onto Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, make a left onto International Dr. south, left onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and follow signs to I-495 north.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south to I-495 north - Ramp closed Monday night for ramp shift. Traffic will be directed to continue south, make a left onto International Dr. south, left onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and follow signs to I-495 north.

I-495
  

• I-495 north and south at from Old Dominion Dr. overpass to Oak St. overpass - Two left lanes closed Tuesday night for lane shift and equipment installation.
• I-495 north to Exit 45A, Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) west - Ramp closed Tuesday night for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north, take Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.
• I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east - Ramp closed Monday – Thursday nights for concrete girder erection. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.
• I-495 south to Exit 47A and B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and east - Ramp closed Wednesday - Friday nights for equipment installation. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to take Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, make a left onto International Dr. south and follow signs to Leesburg Pike (Route 7).
• I-495 north to Exit 49A or C I-66 west - Ramp closed Sunday - Saturday nights for paving and traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to use either Exit 49 A or C for access to I-66 west.
• I-495 north and south from Lee Hwy. (Route 29) overpass to Exit 49, I-66 - Three lanes closed Tuesday - Saturday  nights for bridge work, traffic shift, and utility work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-495 north at Exit 50, Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) - Road closed Friday and Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to use the collector distributor road.
• I-495 south at Exit 50, Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) - Road closed Sunday and Monday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to use the collector distributor road.
• I-495 north at Exit 51, Gallows Rd. (Route 650) - Three right lanes closed Monday - Friday nights for traffic shift. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-495 north and south at Exit 52, Little River Tpke. (Route 236) - Three left lanes will close Monday - Saturday night for road work.

Route 50/29

• Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west at I-495 south - Ramp closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Gallows Rd. (Route 650) south and follow signs to I-495 south.
• Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west and Fairview Park Dr. to I-495 north - Ramps closed Sunday - Saturday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue west on Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) take Gallows Rd. (Route 650) south, and follow signs to I-495 north.
• Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west at I-495 - Two right lanes closed Monday - Friday for bridge work.
• Lee Hwy. (Route 29) at I-495 - Single lane closed Thursday and Friday for sign installation. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 20 minutes after midnight.

Daytime work- Closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Expect single lane closures on the Inner and Outer Loops of I-495 from Springfield Interchange to beyond the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) within the project area including all connecting arterials.
