Two Orange Line Stations Closed This Weekend

Shuttle buses replace Metro trains between Rosslyn, Virginia Square

Free shuttle buses will replace train service on the Metro’s Orange Line starting at 10 p.m. Friday between Rosslyn and Virginia Square stations. The stations are closing to replace track switches near Clarendon station on the recommendation of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Here is some more information about travel on the Orange Line over the weekend:

  • Orange Line trains will operate in two segments: between Vienna and Virginia Square at normal weekend service levels, and between Rosslyn and New Carrollton at normal weekend service levels.
  • Customers traveling through the work zone should allow 20-30 minutes of additional travel time.
  • On Friday night, the last trains to operate through the area before work begins will be the 9:28 p.m. departure from Vienna and the 9:06 p.m. departure from New Carrollton.

The last train from Vienna will depart 20 minutes earlier than normal--at 2:07 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and at 11:07 p.m. on Sunday and Monday nights.  Last train times from New Carrollton will not change.
