Week In Review: Search For Butt Stabber Continues, Vienna Retains AAA Rating

The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a sixth butt stabbing incident they believe is 

On Monday, a 21-year-old woman said she felt a pinch on her butt while shopping at T.J. Maxx in Fairfax Towne Center on June 8. When she turned around, she saw a man picking up clothes and thought she had been cut by a hanger — a sequence similar to other reports of butt stabbings.

She later discovered cuts in her clothes. Police believe the six incidents are connected to one suspect.

, Moody's Investor Service reaffirmed the AAA bond rating of Vienna, Fairfax County and several other area jurisdictions. signifying they could experience a possible downgrade in the coming years. 

Though Standard and Poor's downgraded the U.S. credit rating from AAA to AA+ on Friday night, the Town of Vienna said before the close of business it had not been contacted by the company about a change in its rating.

Moody's representatives plan to meet with Vienna and Fairfax County Officials in the coming weeks so they can defend their financial status.

A Vienna man and five other area residents Former loan officer Javier Siveroni, 48, of Springfieldpled guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Fellow loan officers John Leone, 44, of Vienna, Alejandro Alquinta, 35, of Springfield and Preston Cherouny, 45, of Washington, D.C. also pled guilty for their role in helping him.

According to FBI and court documents, Siveroni, a former loan officer at the Falls Church branch of SunTrust Mortgage, prepared and submitted false, fraudulent, and misleading mortgage loan applications for unqualified buyers – individuals who lacked the finances, credit rating, or legal status to obtain a certain loan amount. 

"Better than nothing"that a deal has been struck to raise the debt ceiling and reduce federal spending over the next 10 years.The compromise deal would raise the debt ceiling in two steps by $2.4 trillion and also cut federal spending by the same amount. The announcement comes after weeks of anguished wrangling on Capitol Hill that has roiled the country.

"There's something in this deal for everyone to hate," Virginia Rep. Gerald Connolly (D-11th)  said from the Capitol rotunda. "It is what we have and we're on the brink of a catastrophic default if we don't act."

In another twist in the Fairfax County Democratic Committee's attempts to endorse at-large school board candidates, former candidate  is accusing the committee leadership of failing to follow its own rules, leading to a "process that was ripe for fraud."

Documents submitted to the three Democratic Congressional District Chairs in Fairfax County and the Virginia Democratic Party by Armstrong's campaign contend the committee did not follow minimal procedures to protect the process from fraud, did not have the authority to set new bylaws for a special endorsement election, and did not follow the proper procedures to establish a special election process.

Under the Virginia Democratic Party Plan, the rules of the party in Virginia, the chairs or their appointees must hear the appeal.
